Tee It Up for Technology
Springfield Schools Foundation hosted its 11th annual Tee It Up for Technology golf outing and honored both presenting sponsor Promedica Medical Management and event chair Scott Walsh for supporting and commiting to the outing since its inception.
According to Mr. Walsh, through the years, the event has raised just shy of $350,000 to enrich the educational experiences for Springfield students through technology purchases. Golfers enjoyed near perfect weather at this year’s course, Stone Oak Country Club.
In addition to Promedica, the event was sponsored by Savage & Associates, Spartan Insurance, Thread Marketing, Buckeye Telesystem, Jeff and Beth Gilley, Aktion Associates, Evans, Beebe & Fields, Premier Wealth Management, Aaron and Angie Mechling, and the Springfield Education Association whose members treated players to an after-round party with food and refreshments.
Before and after the scramble, additional hole sponsors and supporters were recognized as were the committee members: former Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Beekley, alumni director Sherri Koback, Judy Gorun, DeAnn Baker and Kristina White.
Taking top honors this year was the team led by SHS head cross country coach Mike Shull. In a twist on the longest drive, golfers were invited to toss a past-its-prime golf club on the green. District facilities director Dustin Hamilton won for the men and Kim Hamilton took the women’s toss.
Top are past and current Springfield superintendents, from left, Dr. Michael O’Shea, Dr. Beekley and Matt Geha. Middle are Assistant Superintendent Dana Falkenberg with her husband Mike. Bottom are David Evans with Megan Beebe Evans, president of the Springfield Schools Foundation board.
