The Clock is Ticking!
Don’t forget, the official start time at the high school has moved to 8 a.m. Our daily class schedule is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the building opening to students at 7:15 a.m. Following are a few more updates, with more specifics being sent in the weeks to come. • Powerschool Login Questions: If you need your password information, contact the school counselors office, Betsy Hicks at 419-867-5632. If you need help accessing and filling out medical forms or nurse information, contact student services, Danielle Welch at 419-867-5630
• Freshman Orientation Day, Wednesday, August 24 (freshmen and new students only): the first day of school for ninth grade and new students will be August 24. Freshman and new students will have the opportunity to meet with mentors and share activities to introduce everyone to our high school. Group information will be sent in the mail. If you did not receive a group letter, your group information will be provided the morning of the 24th. On the 24th, they will be given multiple tours to get to know their way around the high school and see the many programs we have to offer.
•First Day of School for all Students (9-12): Thursday, August 25, will be the first day of school for all high school students.
•Lockers: lockers will be issued to every student with a schedule in the building. Students must use a school issued lock that is carried over from middle school or purchased from Mrs. Welch in student services. Students may carry a drawstring bag to their class, but large bookbags and coats should be secured in their locker. During state-issued exams, phones, smart watches and other electronic devices should be left at home or stored locked in a locker to follow the testing mandates.
• Springfield High School Open House:
Wednesday, September 7, 6:30 p.m. Mark your calendars. Come in and meet the fall trimester teachers and get to know them.
•Class Schedules: our school counselors work on balancing the schedule based on the number of students and class sections needed. We continue to work on schedules and adjust with changes. Any schedule currently viewable online is not correct. Class schedules were released to the student Powerschool accounts on August 15. We will continue to balance courses over the coming weeks; therefore schedules are subject to change. Student requested schedule changes will not be honored unless the need is a graduation requirement. Schedules may continue to change through the start of school.
•Online Forms: be sure to go into your Parent Powerschool account and update all forms for this school year.
•Free and Reduced Lunch Forms: families are again responsible for meal costs. Households may apply for free or reducedprice meal benefits. Applications are available at all buildings, the district website, or families can complete an online application at secure.ezmealapp.com/Ap plicationScreen.aspx. Know that you will need student’s Springfield Schools’ ID numbers to complete the online application.
