The 2022-23 school year has finally arrived. This week we welcomed back our staff and students to the main campus to begin a great year. We saw many of the new faces as they came into the high school to pay fees and look around the building. I always enjoy seeing all the kids come back. Thanks to everyone who came in and enjoyed “Hello High School Week.” The Penta students are off and going. Great job as well to all of the parents and drivers who helped coordinate our Penta start. August 24 we welcomed the graduating class of 2026 to the high school to begin their high school career. On the 25th, the sophomores, juniors and seniors began their school year. Following are several bits of information to help start the year.
Forms and Fees
Remember to log in to Powerschool and update your forms. Having the most up-todate information is critical. If you have questions about your Powerschool log in or need assistance with the forms, contact Mrs. Welch at 419-867-5630. Also, if you have not done so, please pay your fees online or stop by the main office or athletic office and pay all fees.
Student Photos
All students are required to have their photo taken for their school ID and the yearbook. (Seniors should take a photo for their ID, but they will be able to submit a photo for the yearbook at a later date). Parents may purchase the photos through mylifetouch. com. Traffic Patterns
Please take a few minutes and remind yourself of the traffic pattern. We need everyone’s assistance in accessing the front of the Springfield High School for drop off and pick up. Please access the building only eastbound on Hall Street with a right turn and southbound on McCord with a right turn at the center cut of SHS. There is no left turn from Hall Street into the lot during peak times of the day, because of the danger of backing traffic into the roundabout. For everyone’s safety, do not ever drop off a student in the street. All students should park in the student lot, making a right turn only into the lot located by the S door. Students should attempt to arrive before 7:45 a.m., to avoid congestion. Student drop off should only occur at the front of the high school.
Bus Information
Bus stops and times are posted on the Springfield Schools transportation web page. Please access the school website at spring field-schools.org and click on departments, transportation and find the high school information under the quick links tab.
Lunches
Our lunch prices were previously shared. The cafeterias remain changeless, meaning any amount over the cost of the item will be added to a students rev track account. If you would like to add money to your students account for extras, visit springfieldschools. revtrak.net/. Lunch menus can be found on the district website. As previously shared, the free and reduced lunch and fee form that needs to be filled out each year to receive assistance, may be accessed at secure.ezmealapp.com/ ApplicationScreen.aspx. All parents/guardians will need their child(ren) student ID# to complete the online application.
What to Bring to School
Students should bring their Chromebook charged and ready to go each day. They also are allowed to carry a drawstring backpack with them to classes. Large backpacks and coats should be stowed in their locked locker. Students should bring paper and a notebook, along with writing utensils. Refillable water bottles are preferred, as class time is valuable, and we do have water filling stations at various points around the school.
Attendance
Parents are reminded that the Missing Child Act requires schools to notify parents when their child/ children are not in school. Call our attendance line at 419-867-5637 to report a student absent. The recorder is on 24 hours a day. Regular attendance is critical to academic success. Refer to the handbook for detailed information regarding attendance and tardiness.
Lockers
Students have been issued a locker. You must go in through the Powerschool website to access the locker number, as it does not show on the APP. Students must have a school issued lock and it can be purchased for $6 in student services. Reminder, all large backpacks and coats should be stored in a locked locker and only drawstring bags can go class to class.
Class Schedules
We continue to work on schedules and adjust with changes in numbers. We will continue to balance courses the best we can. Schedule changes will not be able to be made unless the need is a graduation requirement. Schedules may continue to change through the start of school.
