Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year!
You should have seen it. You could almost feel the excitement as Dorr Elementary School staff prepared their classrooms to welcome our students back into the building. Now, we’re anxious to get everyone in school.
For those reading who don’t have students at Dorr, the district’s reconfiguration efforts included a staggered start and the creation of our new Springfield JumpStart. During JumpStart, students meet their teachers in a one-on-one setting, drop-off school supplies and complete assessments. While that’s happening, their families will get to tour the building, meet our staff, pay fees, fill out any unfinished forms and get answers to any questions they may have. If anyone reading this needs to or has yet to schedule a JumpStart appointment, we ask that they call the office, at 419-867-5666, extension 1, and we will get you set up.
If you saw any of the stories, we’re reminding any families who need support with supplies to stop by during JumpStart to meet Ms. Kalo, our school counselor, and she can provide various school supplies, thanks to some generous donations from the community. We have received donations from area churches such as Calvary, Dwelling Place and Compelled, and businesses like Supply Source, Target, Texas Road House and the Springfield Area Prevention Coalition. Tuesday, August 30: First day for preschool Tuesday, August 30: Kindergarten boys only; first day for first through third grades.
Wednesday, August 31: Kindergarten girls only; first through third grades are in.
Thursday, September 1: All kindergarten is session.
Monday, September 5: Labor Day–no school.
Thursday, September 8: Parents’ Club meeting, 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday, September 21: Fall picture day.
