On August 8, the Ohio Auditor of State’s office released its review for independent audit reports of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library system and Metroparks Toledo.
The library’s report prepared by Julian and Grube Inc. is for the 2021 audit year. Keith Faber, state auditor, said the review pertained to financial statements and the legislative criteria conducted to determine the library’s compliance with state laws and regulations.
“Based on this review, we have accepted these reports,” he wrote in a letter to the library system.
In its report Julian and Grube acknowledged auditing the financial statements of the governmental activities, each major fund and the aggregate remaining fund information of the library.
To assure the financial statements were free from material misstatements, they performed compliance tests with certain provisions of laws, regulations, contracts, grant agreements and more.
“The results of our tests disclosed no instances of noncompliance or other matters that are required to be reported under government auditing standards,” they wrote.
The Metroparks audit, also for 2021 documents, was prepared by the independent firm of Charles E. Harris and Associates and presented to the state auditor.
The firm audited the park district’s governmental activities, business-type activities, each major fund and the aggregate remaining fund information.
They considered the Metroparks’ internal control over financial reporting and found that “during our audit we did not identify any deficiencies in internal control that we consider to be material weaknesses.”
The results of the CPA firm’s audit revealed no instances of noncompliance.
The company also looked at compliance for major federal programs as required by the uniform guidance.
“In our opinion, the district complied in all material aspects with the compliance requirements,” they wrote.
