Springfield High School News

Thank you for a great first full week of school. I am grateful for all of the effort from staff to get 1,200 students in the high school scheduled into great classes, fed in lunch and transported home. I know there are bumps along the way, but on our end you could feel things get easier and smoother towards the end of the week.

Railroad Tracks and Student Safety

There should never be a circumstance where students are crossing the railroad tracks on McCord. Please take the time to talk about safety protocols and remind them to use sidewalks. We’ve had multiple sightings of students choosing to cross the tracks and videotape the process.

Vaccination Reminders

Our nurses are busy ensuring all of our students are upto date on their vaccines, as required in schools by Ohio law. We do reach out to families that are not compliant with the required vaccines with options to help them get up-todate. As of September 19, all required vaccines should be recorded or in process of being completed. Please speak with the school nurse and file necessary paperwork. Students not meeting that requirement by law are to be excluded from school.

Please Begin Viewing Your Child’s Progress As we finish the first week of school, please begin a regiment of reviewing your child’s progress through Powerschool. If there are inconsistencies in their performance, reach out to your child’s teacher and work together to improve their grade. If you need Powerschool log in information, contact Betsy Hicks at betsy hicks@springfield-schools .org.
