Springfield High School News

Especially during National School Bus Safety Month, we want to focus on two things.

First, we want to show appreciation to the men and women who devote their careers to keeping our students safe as they travel to and from school and activities.

Throughout the 13-plus years that most of our students spend in the district, theirs have often been the first smiles many students see in the morning.

Our drivers, aides and transportation department staff know our students and families, and have shared many of our victories and consoled us when the results were not as we wished. We are fortunate to have them in our lives– today and everyday, we say thank you.

Secondly, we want to remind all who drive vehicles on and around our campus that we need your cooperation to help protect the safety of our students (see book at right for details).

Despite our best efforts, each day we watch in despair as family members make illegal and dangerous stops near the crosswalk on Hall Street to drop-off a student. Hall Street is a public road and those who continue to choose this dangerous behavior will soon receive citations.

Law enforcement has been a bit more lenient at the start of this school year. This will not last much longer. Please set the right example for our students–obey the rules. Drop-off/pick-up of students should occur either in front of the school or in the student parking lot.

Please help us keep all students safe.
