SCHOOL NEWS
Thank you once again to all the parents/family members that were able to make it to the school Friday for music “informances” put on by Mrs. Mohr and her music students. This is the first time for this type of performance and the students were amazing. Springfield has an amazing music program from kindergarten through 12th grade, and that was on display. There will be a separate performance in each of the next two trimesters for the students who have yet to take music.
I want to wish a heartfelt thank you and happy Veterans Day to all of those who have served and/or are still serving in our armed forces. Our students have been invited to attend a Veterans Day assembly this Friday at the high school, put on by the JROTC. This is an amazing opportunity for our students to help pay tribute.
Fund-raiser Pick Up Change of Date
The new date for the fundraiser pick up will be Friday, November 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is an early dismissal day for Holland, so the students let out at 10:45. The items will be available for pick up in the Holland cafeteria, so it is easiest to drive around the middle school to the back. If unable to pick up the items yourself, then you are good to send someone else to pick them up.
Parent Teacher Conferences
At the beginning of the year, we said Holland Intermediate would resemble more of an elementary school setting rather than the middle school.
However, after thoughtful discussion and careful considerations with the staff, I have decided to implement a schedule similar to the middle school and hold an invitation only parent teacher conference night on Monday, November 28, from 2:30 to 7 p.m. Teachers have until the end of next week to notify the office of students they would like to conference with that evening. After that, a Sign-Up Genius will be sent out via email.
There is simply not enough time to hold traditional conferences with each team, and student progress can be accessed daily through PowerSchool. However, parents and teachers are encouraged to be in conversation about questions or concerns related to their student’s academics or behavior. This is a big reason that we encourage students to access their teachers through the PBIS Rewards App or Class Dojo, if it is utilized by the teacher.
Helping Springfield Schools Families in Need 2022
The Holland/Springfield community’s Helping Hand Committee has again joined forces with the district to make the holidays a little brighter for Springfield Schools’ families. As we have done in previous years, staff and students at each school are being asked to donate specific items for the Christmas food baskets. Our goal for Holland Intermediate is 150 cans of frosting, 150 boxes of Jiffy corn mix, and 50 cans of cream of mushroom soup. The following groups will be responsible for each item.
Fourth grade: cans of frosting.
Fifth grade: Jiffy corn mix. Staff: cream of mushroom soup. The drive began November 7 and goes until November 18.
Boxes will be set outside the main office for each item. Please make sure items are not expired before drop off. If we can meet our building goal, we will have a schoolwide pajama day on our first day back from Thanksgiving break.
Gamers of the Week
Each week our teams nominate one student as their gamer of the week. The category they are being selected for is perseverance.
Fourth grade teams: Sonic Racing, Jesse; Animal Crossing, Dre’Shaun, and Marvelous, Lakendra.
Fifth grade teams: Team Legend, Brynn; Pac Peeps, Johnathin; Minecraft, Miles, and Team Splatoon, Cameron; Berry/Klena, Nikhi.
