Holland Intermediate

SCHOOL NEWS

I can’t believe it is already February. Every fifth grade student should have brought home a flyer for VIP day on Friday, February 17. Those in attendance will enter through the sixth grade door. They will sign in and get a visitor sticker. Guests are permitted to park in the bus loop between the middle school and Holland. They also can park in the lot at the end of the football field. Please try to be considerate with time, because we will be welcoming a lot of guests throughout the morning and the parent club needs time to clean up between each group.

Our February character trait is acceptance.

Congratulations to Holland’s Alayna Brazzil Holland Intermediate’s Alayna Brazzil recently performed in Columbus at the All State Children’s Chorus Concert. Alayna was one of two Springfield students to perform, joining Joseph Heldman from the high school. This is a tremendous honor in the music community. Way to go Alayna.

Mrs. Brown’s Update: Kids Heart Challenge

The fund-raiser is going well so far. Please continue to encourage your students to get involved, if at all possible. They can register online at Kids Heart Challenge or they can download the app on a smartphone to sign up online. Or they can bring in cash or a check. If they do that, please make sure it is labeled with their first and last name and homeroom teacher on the envelope or ziploc baggie.

On Tuesday, February 14, at 1:15 p.m., there will be a building wide assembly in the middle school east gym.

At this time, the students who finished in the top four for each team in the Jump Challenge on the 10th will jump again against all the other top four team winners to determine the best jumpers in each grade.

Following this jump off, there will be a dodgeball game against the teachers. Given the number of participants we have already, we will have two games, one for each grade level. Everyone is invited to play.

Important Message from Officer Warner

My name is Brett Warner and I am the director of safety services for Springfield Local Schools. Beginning immediately, any parent who is parking in the lot behind the football field must walk their child over to Holland. The same is true for picking up your student at the end of the day. You must walk over to Holland to pick up your child. This is now being enforced. If you would like to drop off your child, then I would encourage you to do so in the car drop-off loop that goes through the Holland parking lot. Additionally, students should never be dropped off in the street or at the stop sign. This creates major safety concerns and it affects the arrival and dismissal process for the district. Thank you for your understanding.

Gamers of the Week

Each week our teams nominate one student as their gamer of the week. The category they are being selected for is integrity.

Fourth grade teams: Sonic Racing, Ava, Kane; Animal Crossing, Lina, Landon, and Marvel-ous, Mila, Olivia.

Fifth grade: Team Legend, Mason, Honnesty; Pac Peeps, Evan, Blake; Minecraft, Grant, and Team Splatoon, Aria, Maddie.

Berry/Klena: Ronin, Amara.

Message from Mr. G.

Happy February Holland families. We have been very busy with gifted testing and I’m so proud of our fifth graders taking their time and doing their very best. This month we will begin focusing class lessons on acceptance and kindness.
