Holland Intermediate

We have a lot planned for the end of the year, but first we must get past the state testing window. Those dates are listed in this article. If your child is absent on any of the days, then they will get pulled at a different time to make up the test. Please try to avoid scheduling appointments on the mornings they have testing. On most testing days, students should be finished by 10 a.m.

State Testing Dates

State testing began April 12 with fourth grade ELA on Wednesday and Friday. If your student arrives after the test has started, then they will have to stay in the office and make it up later. Teachers begin testing at 7:45 a.m. The final day to make up an ELA test is April 28. The final day to make up a math or science test is May 12. These are timelines created by the Ohio Department of Education.

Fifth Grade ELA

Test 1: Wednesday, April 19.

Test 2: Friday, April 21.

Fifth Grade Science

Test 1: Tuesday, April 25. Test 2: Thursday, April 27.

Fourth Grade Math Test 1: Tuesday, May 2. Test 2: Thursday, May 4.

Fifth Grade Math

Test 1: Wednesday, May 3.

Test 2: Friday, May 5. Make up dates: May 8 to 12.

A Message from Mr. G.

We are now in the final lap of the school year, which means testing has arrived. This is a very important time that our students take care of themselves to not only be prepared on testing days, but to also manage the stress that may come with testing. Students should be getting plenty of rest, limiting evening screen time, eating breakfast on test days and also finding time for enjoyment. Just a reminder for any adult who would like to participate in our first ever vehicle career day to please fill out the form that was sent home and is on our Facebook page, or to reach out to myself or the office.

Vehicle Career Day May 23 Counselor Mr. G. is putting together a different type of career day, and it will take a lot of help from the community. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 23, but for planning purposes he needs responses by Friday, April 21. This event does not have a rain date, but promises to be a terrific experience for our fourth and fifth grade students. Space is limited, so the earlier the response the better.

There will be an open house on Tuesday, May 9, for all incoming fourth graders and sixth graders to Holland Intermediate and Springfield Middle School for the 202324 school year. The event will be from 6 to 7 p.m., and it will be an opportunity to tour both schools and meet the building principals.

Fifth Grade Recognition Dates

Fifth grade recognition will take place over two days. Both events will be held at the high school auditorium.

Tuesday, May 30: Minecraft and Pac Peeps, 9 to 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday, May 31: Splatoon and Legend, 9 to 10:30 a.m.

More information will be coming after spring break.

Gamers of the Week

Each week our teams nominate one student as their gamer of the week. The category they are being selected for is leadership.

Fourth grade teams: Animal Crossing, Addy, and Marvel-ous, Kieran.

Fifth grade: Team Legend, Eva; Pac Peeps, Amara; Minecraft, Brooklyn, and Berry, Ally.
