The Project Hope leadership workshop took place on April 11, in the high school auditorium. At the workshop, students explored practical ways of building self-esteem, dealing with bullying and setting healthy boundaries.
The workshop was facilitated by Bill Geha, our district’s intervention and prevention specialist; trained high school students, and the middle school counseling staff.
Students got the opportunity to be engaged in both small group and large group discussions and activities to widen their knowledge of these topics. Overall, the day was impactful for all involved and will be remembered as a valuable self-growth and learning opportunity.
Walking Through History Too often, residents of northwest Ohio overlook the incredible opportunities that exist to take a walk through our region’s (very rich and very near) history. Not the case, however, for Springfield Middle School’s Team Velocity students.
On April 14, our students literally got to take a walk through history while participating in a field trip to the Fallen Timbers battlefield site. With support from Toledo Metroparks guide, Hannah, our students received a lesson that included the history of the site, the events that led up to the battle, how the battle took place and the results.
After the lesson, we took a walking tour of the site. Our students, and all our neighbors, are fortunate to have such an amazing historical site right in our backyard.
