SCHOOL NEWS

Sheriff’s Deputy (and Springfield Township’s Community Service Officer) Aalea Robertson was visiting our school recently during the second grade lunch period, when one of the students took notice of how much she resembled her mom. The student, Shiloh Anderson, was introduced to Officer Robertson and immediately asked if one day she, too, could become a sheriff’s deputy. Of course the answer was, “Yes.”

It was at that time that Shiloh’s teacher, Mrs. Borth, approached Deputy Robertson to request that she return for a visit with all Holloway second grade students to discuss what it takes to become a sheriff’s deputy. What a great opportunity this became for all of our young students to listen and learn about the training that goes into becoming a law enforcement professional, to see all the equipment that is used to protect others as well as the special vehicle that the officers use (what is it about kids and those lights and sirens?).

We enjoy taking advantage of opportunities like this to encourage children to explore future career options!
