The Sylvania Area Chamber of Commerce, local veterans groups, and the City of Sylvania invites everyone to the Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies on Monday, May 29, in downtown Sylvania.
A brief service to commemorate the men and women who died while in the military service of our country will begin at 9 a.m., at Toledo Memorial Park, 6832 Monroe Street. More than 14,000 local veterans are laid to rest at the memorial park. The graves are decorated with a “Sea of Flags.”
Local veterans and color guards will also visit Association, Ravine and St. Joseph’s cemeteries to honor fallen military personnel.
The parade will start at Saint Joseph Parish, 5373 Main Street, beginning at 10:15 a.m. The route will be as follows: •North on Main
•West on Erie Street,
•North on Garden Park Drive
•Ending at Veterans Memorial Field A service will begin at 11:15 a.m., at Veterans Memorial Field with Sylvania Mayor Craig Stough serving as master of ceremonies.
