At the end-of-year assembly, Springfield School District recognized certified and classified employees and bade farewell to retiring staff members.
Kim Simon, above left, was named the certified employee-of-the-year in the elementary school level. Ms. Simon teaches third grade at Crissey Elementary School. She was praised for being “a top-notch educator and an exemplary human being.”
In addition to her regular teaching duties, she tutors third graders after school and is known by her peers as “an exceptional colleague giving her time and talents openly and generously.”
Tammy Mansfield, above right, received certified employee- of-the-year honors at the secondary level. Nominated by multiple colleagues, Ms. Mansfield teaches MD at Springfield High School.
Her fellow educators said, “Tammy teaches her students how to be strong, independent individuals through real-world activities. Her joy and kindness contribute to making her the exemplary teacher that everyone should strive to become.”
Receiving classified employee-of-the-year recognition was Tina Buchop, below right. The kitchen manager at the middle school is noted for embracing her new role and being “a positive force for her staff and an amazing communicator. Few could come in their first year and perform the job as effectively as she did.”
Ms. Buchop shared employee-of-the-year honors this year with Jennifer Leasure, lunchroom monitor at Dorr Elementary School. Ms. Leasure, below left, was recognized for her work ethic and dedication. “This year, she has not missed a day of work,” Superintendent Matt Geha noted. “She works well with staff and students and begins each day with a smile,” he added.
