Non-profit holds first fund-raising event

Established in 2020, the Lincoln John Myrice Foundation (LJM) is here to help local families experiencing pregnancy complications through its partnership with the Toledo Hospital Maternal- Fetal Medicine Department.

When parents Kathryn and Danny Myrice lost their baby boy, Lincoln John, at 20 weeks gestation due to developmental and surgical complications which resulted in pre-term labor, they relied on the help and care of Toledo Hospital.

Although their son was not able to be saved, his memory lives on through the LJM Foundation and its endeavors.

On Monday, August 7, the non-profit will hold its first golf fund-raising event at the Toledo Country Club. Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. with tee time at 1 p.m. The event will offer a silent auction, gift cards, 50/50 raffles, prizes, food, golfing and more.

Funds raised will be used to renovate the meeting room in the maternal-fetal medicine department used to speak with individuals or families to discuss options and outcomes when complications arise in pregnancies. The room is currently white and sterile with dated furniture. With their donations, the foundation hopes to provide funds for a fresh coat of paint, new furniture, flooring, bookcase, television, refreshments and toys to occupy siblings in the grieving space.

After the renovation, the space will be renamed after Lincoln John Myrice and honor his memory.

Mr. Myrice spoke of the organization and his hopes for the event, “We knew after going through this devasting loss, we wanted to start a foundation, to not only keep his name alive, but to help others less fortunate going through these same trying times.”

He added that moving forward the foundation will serve “those that go through and experience pregnancy complications and infant loss. Whether that be assisting with hospital bills, transportation to and from the hospital, cremation or burial expenses and professional help, if needed, after their experience.”

Registration is still open and walk up entrants will be accepted. Donations and sponsors are still being saught.
