SLS students enjoy activities at Summer Spark

Whether they are enjoying sessions at Crissey, Dorr, Holland or Holloway schools, students Ava Carter and Pablo, Ava’s puppy, above right; Cameron Montgomery, above left; and Kennedy Conrad are realizing how much fun reading is this summer thanks to the Springfield Local Schools’ Summer Spark program.

The program is a family activity involving grandparents, siblings and parents like Laura Conrad, herself a teacher, at left, with Kennedy.

This recent session was about good vibrations–no, not the Beach Boys–and students used their best STEAM skills to make drums using plastic storage containers and balloons. In the end, it is all about how much fun learning can be at any time of the year–summer, fall, winter or spring.

Summer Spark provides students entering grades kindergarten through eight with engaging, experiential learning opportunities that can challenge and entertain them at no cost to families.
