The Grand Rapids Rhythm on the River Arts Series will continue on Sunday, August 6, at 4 p.m. with musical guest, Blue Moon. Performances are held in the Wright Pavilion on the towpath between the canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street.
Blue Moon is a local band playing Americana, blues, rock and original music. The five band members are Laurie Swyers, singer and guitarist; Mary Dick, guitarist, singer and songwriter; Leo Sancrant, bassist; Dario Insenga, drummer, and Bill Thomas, violinist.
Ms. Swyers has opened for several national acts, won the Black Swamp Blues Society challenge twice and competed in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis.
The group’s music can be heard on platforms including Spotify, Amazon, Apple, Pandora and more. Some of the band’s original songs can also be heard on Reverbnation and Broadjam.
The concert is free and patrons are asked to bring blankets or chairs to enjoy the music along the river. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved into the old fire station on Front Street.
