For the second year, the Lucas County Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD) is looking for residents and landowners in the community to share their stories of success and struggle while implementing conservation practices in their homes.
The district is holding an online survey to document the various efforts of Lucas County residents to effectively conserve. This year, all who complete the online survey will be entered into a raffle drawing to win a free item from the SWCD’s store. The winner from the raffle will be drawn on August 31.
Examples of conservation practices include native plants, rain gardens, composting, beekeeping, gardening, no-mow or low-mow grass and other various nature-related efforts.
The goal of the program is to compile and share the stories of various conservation efforts to demonstrate that they can be done at any scale or level. Pictures and excerpts from last year’s, as well as this year’s survey, can be found at LucasSWCD.org/ success-stories.
