SCHOOL NEWS
I am extremely grateful to be your child’s principal. This is my fifth year in the district and third as principal. I also am excited to have Jenna Moden as my assistant principal for the second straight year. Mrs. Moden is in her third year at Springfield, but she has been in education for 13 years.
Much excitement comes with a new school year, but I recognize that change is not easy for all students. Hopefully, the Springfield Jump Start will help with the transition. This new setup allows for the teachers to focus on using the first few weeks of school to build the much needed positive relationships that support successful learning. Finally, parents can look forward to communication to be shared through email, Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter) every Sunday. I look forward to meeting everyone during our Jump Start days.
BOOKS!
Our theme for the school year is BOOKS! Building Outstanding Opportunities Knowledge Success.
We currently have four teams in fourth grade and three teams in fifth grade. Each team will have their own book genre theme, and we hope it will provide some fun and healthy competition throughout the school year.

Important Dates
August 23 to 28: Springfield Local Schools Jump Start Days.
Tuesday, August 29: first day of school (first through fifth grades).
Monday, September 4: no school, Labor Day.
Thursday, September 7: fall pictures.
Friday, September 8: Back to School Bash, 6 to 8 p.m.
Breakfast and Lunch Fees Springfield Local Schools meal charges are as follows: Elementary/intermediate schools: breakfast, $1.75, and lunch, $3.25.
Reduced price students: breakfast, $0.30, and lunch, $0.40.
Springfield Jump Start
Springfield Local Schools will hold Jump Start days again this year. The goal is to provide a more personal touch to start the school year. In lieu of a separate open house, Holland will provide an opportunity for fourth and fifth grade homeroom teachers to meet with families individually and assess students during 30minute appointments over a four-day period. This will give families and students a special time to get to know teachers, see the classroom, drop off supplies, tour the building and take care of any start-of-school housekeeping issues like updating contact information, paying fees, etc.
There will be no classes for any kindergarten through fifth grade student(s) on these dates; only pre-scheduled appointments with teachers.
Wednesday and Thursday, August 23 and 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday and Monday, August 25 and 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Families of students entering first through fifth grades should have received an email with a link to make an appointment with their students’ teachers. Transportation News
The transportation department released the 2023-24 bussing routes on August 10, on the school webpage. Students at Holland Intermediate will ride the bus to and from school with students in the middle school. Dismissal is at 2:15 p.m., and all the busses roll off the lot by 2:20 p.m. Holland students will be accompanied by staff members to the bus.
There will be more information provided to parents/ guardians at Jump Start.
Posting of Class Lists
The class lists will be posted on the front windows of the building on Friday, August 18, by 4 p.m.
Back to School Bash
We are excited to welcome all new and former Holland Intermediate students and their families to the Back to School Bash.
This will be a fun way to connect with other Holland families and kick of the new school year with some fun.
We will host some food/ dessert trucks as well as have yard games and bounce house opportunities.
Holland Parent Council HPC is back for the 202324 school year, and they already have many exciting events planned. Of course, the HPC knows there are lots of parents from their previous schools who want to help out, and they welcome all newcomers for more ideas. Here are the following meeting dates: August 29, September 19, October 17, November 14, December 19, January 16, February 20, March 19, April 16 and May 14.
All meetings begin at 6:30 p.m., in room 101B. (Enter through the main doors, down the hall, is on the left).
