One of the best things about being a principal is getting to celebrate the hard work kids are doing in the classroom everyday. Being at Springfield for as long as I have, I know the challenging classes that we have and I’m always impressed with the creativity and learning process that takes place each day for our students. But I’m ever more impressed each time I think about the schedules that so many of our students are balancing. If you have ever spoken to many of our top students, they are also participating in so many things after school as well.
One of those major activities, of course, is sports. I am always proud of the success we have like All League honors, coach of the year and player of the year for the league, but I must say, I am partial to the all academic team. One of the coolest awards that the Northern Lakes League gives out is the all academic award for seniors.
We recently had our sports banquets for the fall and we were able to celebrate a great group of students.
This year we had an exceptional group of young people who not only excelled in their athletics, but made it happen in the classroom as well.
I want to congratulate all those senior athletes who did so much in the classroom, and I was so glad to get to hand them their certificate from the Northern Lakes League celebrating their accomplishment. Great job.
PS. It’s always neat to see those at the graduation shrines hanging on your boards.
