Drew Holmes, a Class of 2024 Springfield Schools student who was enrolled in welding at Penta Career Center, took first place in the Ohio SkillsUSA championship welding contest this past spring.
He went on to compete at the national leadership conference, but did not garner a top award or skill point certificate.
