The Toledo Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on Old State Line Road near Wilkins Road in Harding Township.
According to the highway patrol, Michael A. Dennis, 42, of Monclova, died in the crash, which occurred sometime in the overnight hours of August 28, and was discovered in the morning at 7:24 a.m.
Lieutenant Rustun K. Schack said the preliminary investigation shows that Dennis was driving west on Old State Line near Wilkins, when he apparently drove left of center, off the left side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. The vehicle came to rest in a soybean field.
Dennis was pronounced deceased on scene. Alcohol and failure to wear a safety belt are suspected factors in this crash, which remains under investigation.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Lucas County sheriff’s office, Lucas County coroner’s office, Springfield Township Fire and EMS and Jerry’s Towing.
