Kidney Foundation walk set for Sunday, Sept. 15

The 2024 Toledo Kidney Walk will take place Sunday, September 15.

Northwest Ohio residents have the chance to make every step count in the fight against kidney disease by registering now for the third annual walk.

Individuals can sign up to participate at kidneywalk.org /toledo and create a personal fund-raising page to help raise money for the cause.

More than 86 cents of every dollar donated supports its programs and services. This year’s walk is sponsored by the University of Toledo Medical Center.

“The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) is a lifeline for thousands of patients with all stages of kidney disease and supports thousands of volunteer fund-raisers through NKF Kidney Walks held in nearly 70 communities across the country,” said Karley Karban, a UT student.

“Every step our walkers take raises millions of dollars for NKF programs for patients, innovation in research, awareness campaigns and legislative change. We need your help now to give families the information and answers they need to achieve optimal kidney health and advocate for patients who need access to dialysis and transplants,” she added.

NKF’s walk is the nation’s largest to fight kidney disease and a signature community fund-raiser.

Kidney disease, a national public health crisis, affects 37 million Americans, particularly communities of color.

According to organizers, events like this are critical to NKF’s Kidney Equity strategy to combat health disparities and advocate for change.
