At the September 17 meeting, Holland village council authorized a conditional use permit for an offpremises sign with several conditions.
Kreg Culler of Digital One LLC applied for the conditional use on property at 6841 Angola Road.
The proposed 20 foot tall, 200-square-foot double faced electronic billboard complies with all zoning requirements, explained Leslie Ferman, zoning administrator.
Council member Sandy Hensley inquired about the types of advertising that would appear on the sign.
Culler responded that local businesses, general billboard and possibly political advertisements will be displayed.
Police Chief Jim Piotrowski asked if the signage brightness would be moderated for daylight and night conditions.
The display board is not dimmable, Culler said. He also noted that negotiations are ongoing with the property owner on removal of an existing pole sign on the property.
Council approved the request conditional upon it being a 10- by 20-foot sign face per side; minimum height from grade of 20 feet; 10-foot setback from the right of way; 25-foot setback from the east property line and stamped concrete base or aesthetic equivalent.
