On October 12, the Springfield Township Fire department gathered at the McCord Road Fire Station alongside trustees, family and friends to honor those deceased firefighting personnel who served the township. The ceremony concluded with the laying of the wreath at the memorial, below right, and the sounding of the last bell in recognition of deceased members, below center. Following the ceremony, visitors were invited inside for an open house. The fire department has held the memorial service for 23 years.
