One position open on Lucas SWCD board

Through Wednesday, November 13, Lucas County citizens ages 18 and older are eligible to vote in the Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) board supervisor election.

Voters can either cast their ballot in-person or via absentee.

To vote in-person, they can visit the Lucas SWCD office, 3350 Hill Avenue, Suite K, Toledo, during business hours through noon on Wednesday, November 13, or come to the Toledo Botanical Garden on November 13, between 5 and 6 p.m. Residents do not have to have a ticket to the annual meeting to vote during this time.

Absentee ballots can be requested by phone, email, or mail and must be returned to the district by 3 p.m. on November 13.

This year’s candidates seeking one position on the board are Stephen Loeffler of Berkey (incumbant) and Linda Rossler of Curtice.

To learn about each candidate, visit the website election page at LucasSW CD.org/candidates.

Similar to the other soil and water conservation districts in the state, the Lucas SWCD is run by a board of five members who are publicly elected by county residents.

Board supervisors determine the district’s long-term strategic goals, hire staff and approve all budget decisions. They must attend one meeting a month, among other responsibilities throughout the year, and they are elected to three-year terms.
