The annual Pemberville Christmas in the Village is set for Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1.
Festivities are scheduled from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m.
Pemberville’s lighted parade, sponsored by Pemberville Independent Merchants Association, will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. It will feature area high school marching bands, twirlers, floats, walking units, fire apparatus and more with Santa and Mrs. Claus being the finale unit atop Pemberville-Freedom Fire Department’s ladder truck. The downtown will feature Christmas dignitaries both days with Santa and Mrs. Claus giving treats to children and posing for family pictures.
The Grinch will be near the Henline Building featuring Home Town Realty’s Grinch window display by realtor Tammy Oberdick. On Front Street, Riverbank Antiques will be the backdrop for Ebenezer Scrooge (Dan Baker) the protagonist of Charles Dickens’s 1843 short novel, “A Christmas Carol.”
Families will be able to take holiday “elf selfies” at the Beeker’s Bench situated alongside one of Ohio’s oldest operating general stores.
Guests can also enjoy other interactive photo opportunities compliments of JM Designs and Downtown Deco, fine floral design.
On Saturday, Eastwood Key Club members will collect donations benefiting the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign.
Attendees can shop the holiday Scholastic Book Fair set-up at the new 222 Event Space located adjacent to the Gathering Place.
Guests are invited to visit locally owned Front Street businesses including the Country Cupboard, Front Street Café and Coffee, Comfy Cactus Boutique, Behind the Pines, Belle Fleur, Beeker’s General Store, Vintage Christmas Market, Riverbank Antiques and Tangled Tinsel Christmas Resale Shop.
Pemberville’s Opera House will be the setting for this year’s Festival of Trees entitled “Holidays.” Fourteen trees will fill the house. Admission is $5 per person, children are free with a paid adult admission. Proceeds will benefit the Pemberville-Freedom Area Historical Society. Tickets are available at the door and include complimentary refreshments, the chance to “vote” for your favorite tree and be entered in the grand prize drawing.
The historical society will host its annual holiday bake sale in the Town Hall. All proceeds benefit the society’s continued restoration/ maintenance efforts.
Pemberville’s oldest frame house will be decorated and open for free tours. Area decorators will adorn the Pember-Furry House and One Room School inside and out. Guests can learn about Christmas traditions and folklore. They can see blacksmith demonstrations, creating a variety of heirloom keepsakes.
Pemberville’s tree lighting ceremony will conclude Sunday’s festivities on the lawn of Mason Park. Eastwood band members will perform a number of holiday selections and lead a carol sing-along.
