Lucas SWCD announces results of board election

Each year, the Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD) holds an election for one or two positions on the publically elected board of supervisors.

In 2024, one position on the board was up for election. Stephen Loeffler, of Berkey, was re-elected to the board for another three-year term starting January 1, 2025.

Loeffler has been farming for the past 48 years. He has served on the Lucas SWCD board of supervisors since April of 2012, and is currently in his third term as an Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Area One Director.

His past experiences include participating and assisting with 4-H, FFA and the Fulton County Fair. He has more than 30 years in the livestock industry, including former Director of the Michigan Livestock Exchange. Loeffler also has experience in ditch maintenance.

He is interested in the preservation of natural resources, managing resources and budgets while in a difficult economic environment. He sees the role of the SWCD as assisting in better water management, helping to conserve soil, water and wildlife, and bringing conservation into the classroom so students can see the importance of natural resources.

He is married to his wife Denise for 20 years and shares farming with his son, Brad.
