Catch the holiday spirit at the City of Toledo’s annual holiday tree lighting and winter festival in Ottawa Park, 2015 Parkside Drive, on Sunday, December 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz will turn on the holiday tree lights at 6:30 p.m., marking the highlight of the evening.
This family-friendly event features free ice skating (weather permitting), arts and crafts, cookie decorating and a variety of musical performances. In the spirit of holiday giving, attendees are invited to bring non-expired, nonperishable food items to support the Monroe Street Neighborhood Center and Grace Community Center food pantries.
Holiday Activities
•Free ice skating: 3 to 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 to 6:15 p.m.
•Visit with Santa, Elsa, the Grinch and Cinderella: 4 to 7 p.m.
•Toledo Fire and Rescue Demo Truck: 5 to 7 p.m.
•Activities for all ages include an ornament making station, cookie decorating, ice carving demonstration, face painting, Read for Literacy book giveaway and Santa’s workshop, where attendees can create and donate a craft or ornament for a community member as part of the kindness initiative.

3:15 to 3:30 p.m. – Open Mic 3:30 to 4 p.m. – Waite High School show choir 4:10 to 4:20 p.m. – Singalong with Elsa, the Grinch and Cinderella 4:30 to 5 p.m. – the Glow Foundation Choir 5:10 to 5:25 p.m. – Scott High School choir 5:30 to 6 p.m. – F.A.M.E.D. Attendees can enjoy complimentary s’mores, popcorn and hot chocolate. Pizza will be available for purchase by the slice. (Items are available while supplies last.)
A non-perishable food drive will be held. Needed are boxed pasta, rice, canned vegetables and other non-expired goods. Spread the joy by supporting local food pantries.
