Ohio Highway Patrol investigates two fatal crashes

The Toledo Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on January 26, at approximately 2:27 a.m., on County Road D at Birdsong Lane in Swan Creek Township, Lucas County.

Timothy L. Urbina Jr., 18, of Sylvania, was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Camaro westbound on County Road D when he lost control of his vehicle. He traveled off the right side of the roadway through a field before striking a tree. Urbina succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. He was reportedly wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash, and drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor.

County Road D was closed for 1.5 hours.

The patrol was assisted by the Fulton County Coroner, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Fulton County Fire Department and EMS, Swanton Fire Department and Providence Township Fire Department. The crash remains under investigation. *** The Swanton Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on January 30, at 12:45 a.m., on the Ohio Turnpike, at milepost 62 in Maumee.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2001 Ford F550 operated by Charles J. Miller II, 55, of Dallas, Texas, was traveling westbound on the Ohio Turnpike. Miller traveled off the right side of the road and struck an embankment and small trees. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Miller was transported by Maumee EMS to the University of Toledo Medical center where he was pronounced deceased.

OHP was assisted on scene by the City of Maumee Fire and EMS, Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission and Bubba’s Towing.

The OHP reminds motorists to always wear safety belts, and to never drive impaired or distracted.
