The Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District (Lucas SWCD) is accepting orders for the annual tree, shrub and garden sale through Friday, March 28.
There are two ways to place an order: online through the website Lswcdtree. square.site (credit card only) or stop by district office, 3350 Hill Avenue, Suite K, Toledo, during business hours to complete an order form and make payment with cash, check or credit card.
The sale is open to all area residents including those from Lucas, Wood and surrounding counties.
This year’s sale offers several hardwood species in three-gallon pots including Northern Catalpa, Serviceberry, Black Gum, and Eastern Redbud. There also are bare root seedling packs of flowering shrubs like Gray Dogwood and Ninebark and three varieties of conifers or evergreens.
Those interested in getting more than one species in a pack can order a variety habitat or native prairie seed packets which contain seeds from flowers and grasses collected locally from the Oak Openings Region.
New this year is the Apple Tree bundle, featuring two fan-favorite varieties to grow your own apples.
Each year, the Lucas SWCD offers a unique selection of native and habitat trees, shrubs and plants to promote conservation in the landscape. These plants are offered at a low cost to encourage residents to help wildlife, provide soil and water benefits and improve their properties.
Whether it is replacing turf grass with native plants or planting a 100-foot long windbreak on a farm, the organization offers the trees and planting/maintenance information for area residents to be successful.
All orders must be picked up at the Lucas County Fairgrounds on either April 15, between 1 to 6 p.m. or April 16, between 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Delivery is not an option. For more information or to request a copy of the spring 2025 newsletter, contact the office at 419-8931966.
