More than 70 area employers, who are interested in hiring students and future graduates, conducted interviews at Penta Career Center on March 14. Hundreds of students participated in the day-long event, among them Saniya Jackson-Banks of Springfield High School.
A junior enrolled in the medical technologies program at Penta, Saniya spoke with Leslie Moose of Otterbein SeniorLife in Monclova Township, left. The facility offers independent and assisted living, skilled nursing, hospice, adult day services and respite care. Moose said the facility is seeking employees for household and elder patient care.
“The skills I’m learning now I can use at this job,” Saniya said. Career services coordinator Marshall Wolf said the annual interview day benefits students learning interview skills and employees who may be hiring. “Although there is no requirement that employers at interview day have actual jobs to offer, the reality is that many employers participating at this event are very interested in interviewing our students.”
Lucas County businesses that participated this year include Sylvania Recreation, the Andersons, Toledo Zoo, Toledo Day Nursery, Toledo Early Learning Coalition, Toledo Memorial Park, WTOL, Yark Automotive Group, UPS, Hollywood Casino, Maumee Bay Lodge, Metroparks Toledo and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
