Springfield Local Schools is proud to announce that Ms. Sherice Thomas, an educator at Springfield High School, has been named the 2024 Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo (DSAGT) Teacher of the Year.
Thomas was nominated by a Springfield Schools family for her outstanding support, compassion and commitment to inclusive education. In a heartfelt letter submitted to DSAGT, the family shared how Thomas went above and beyond in making a lasting impact on their daughter’s educational experience and overall well-being.
In a surprise visit to Springfield High School, representatives from the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Toledo—including Lauren Stout—presented Thomas with the award, honoring her dedication to creating an inclusive, supportive and empowering learning environment.
“I am still in shock about it all, but I am truly grateful and proud of the work I do,” said Thomas following the surprise.
