Lucas Metropolitan Housing Board of Commissioners Vice Chairman William Brennan announced he is retiring after serving for more than two decades as a community advocate for affordable housing.
“My time on the LMH board has been one of my most rewarding professional experiences of my life,” Brennan said. “I look forward to hearing from the ‘sidelines’ about all of the fantastic things that LMH continues to do for our communities in the future.”
Brennan is one of the four longest-tenured commissioners in LMH’s 92-year history. Three commissioners consecutively served on the LMH board for 27 years, 28 years and 39 years, respectively.
“On behalf of Lucas Metropolitan Housing, we extend our deepest gratitude to Commissioner William Brennan for his 24 years of dedicated service to our organization and the community we serve,” said LMH Board Chair Alisha Gant.
“Throughout his tenure, he has been a steadfast leader, a thoughtful collaborator, and a passionate advocate for affordable housing and resident empowerment,” Gant said.
Brennan is stepping down for personal reasons after a long career in both the public and private sectors. He spent 25 years in the construction industry working primarily in trade association management and labor relations. He also spent 21 years in the public sector, finishing his career in economic development. He also is active on the Toledo Lucas County Homelessness Board and with the Lucas County Transportation Improvement District.
“Bill’s commitment to excellence and his unwavering integrity have left an enduring impact on our team and on the countless individuals and families whose lives were touched by his work,” said LMH President and CEO Senghor Manns.
“His legacy will continue to inspire us as we move forward in our mission to provide safe, sustainable, and inclusive housing opportunities,” Manns said. “We thank Bill sincerely for over two decades of remarkable contributions and wish him all the best in the next chapter of life.”
Brennan’s replacement on the LMH board is to be determined. The Lucas County Board of Commissioners will make that selection.
