Nature’s Nursery is known for taking care of sick, injured and orphaned local wildlife, but the organization is filled with animal lovers of all kinds. On Saturday, October 4, Nature’s Nursery welcomes all well-mannered animals to visit the property for a special Blessing of the Animals event.
In celebration of St. Francis of Assisi Day, the patron saint of animals and the environment, this special event offers a unique opportunity for pet owners to have their beloved companions blessed by local pastor, David Frye.
“We are excited to host this event and celebrate the bond that people have with their pets,” said Allison Aey, Nature’s Nursery executive director. “St. Francis’s compassion for all creatures and the environment aligns perfectly with our mission to rescue and rehabilitate local wildlife. This is a way for people to gather and share the common bond of having pets that they love.”
The event will take place from 3 to 5 p.m., in the Nature’s Nursery Education Pavillion and surrounding outdoor area, at 7541 Dutch Road, Waterville.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their well-mannered, leashed pets for a day of fun and community. The event will feature a variety of activities for both two- and fourlegged guests:
•Pet Blessing: provided by Pastor David Frye
•Off-Leash Dog Park: a designated, fenced-in area where dogs can safely run and play.
•Pet Bake Sale: homemade, pet-friendly treats will be available for purchase, with all proceeds supporting Nature’s Nursery.
•Sniffing and Mingling: a chance for pets and their owners to socialize and connect with fellow animal lovers.
The event is free to attend. Donations to Nature’s Nursery are welcome.
