Metroparks Toledo has a variety of activities planned to celebrate Halloween. Events include a family bike ride, a mansion decorated in eerie detail, a nighttime tree climb and a haunted mill in a real ghost town. For registration, where required, visit MetroparksToledo.com.
•A family haunted bike ride is planned for Saturday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fee is $5 in advance or $8 on the day of event. Register online.
It’s trick-or-treat by bike. Pedal 2.8 miles through the scenic fall trails of Secor Metropark, stopping at candy stations. Maumee Valley Adventures volunteers will host the family-friendly Halloween event, which includes hotdogs, children’s activities and a costume contest.
Children must be accompanied by an adult, and helmets are required for all cyclists.
Adaptive bikes and rides also will be available at this inclusive event.
•Ghosts of Providence is set for Friday and Saturday, October 17 at 18, at Providence Metropark. Register for a time slot. Fee is $15.
Meet characters from the real ghost town of Providence, Ohio, on a guided lantern tour at the Canal Experience in Providence Metropark.
Recommended for children ages 7 and older.
•Eerie Manor tours will be offered Friday, October 17 through Saturday, October 25, from 2 to 8 p.m. daily, at Manor House at Wildwood Preserve Metropark. No reservations required.
During this free event, attendees can visit more than 30 hauntingly decorated spaces in the Manor House. The first floor will be suitable for all ages, while the second floor and basement may be slightly spooky.
Visitors are encouraged to come in costume.
•Spooky Tree Climb is set for Thursday, October 30, at Wildwood Preserve, Ward Pavilion. Register for time slot: 6 to 7:30 p.m. or 8 to 9:30 p.m. For ages 8 and older. Fee is $32.
Gear up for Halloween with a twilight tree climbing experience.
Metroparks experts will teach participants to use harnesses and climbing ropes to get to the treetops. All equipment provided.
