Sylvania Township Police Department awarded grant

The Sylvania Township Police Department has been awarded $13,247.10 for a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety. The “Summer Holiday Enforcement Program” grant is for enforcement of all traffic laws, but places an emphasis on speed violations, enforcing seat belt and child restraint laws, and impaired driving. Through implementation of this grant, the department will conduct high visibility traffic enforcement to raise public awareness and address violations.

This grant focuses on months of the year with high traffic volume and encompasses many major holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. These holidays historically correspond to greater traffic on our roadways and increased dangers for travelers and motorists.

The federal grant period will run from April 1, 2026 through September 30, 2026.
