On Thursday evening in Tiffin, the boys soccer team captured Springfield’s first ever OHSAA District Championship in soccer with a dominant 4-0 win over St. Mary’s Memorial High School.
Senior and NLL Player of the Year Kyle Mortus led the charge with three goals and an assist, while sophomore Will Browning added the fourth goal. Senior Aiden Sloan tallied two assists, and goalkeeper Aiden Smith recorded another clean sheet to help seal the victory.
The team advanced to the regional semifinal for a rematch with Southview on Wednesday at Northview High School. Results not available at press time.
