Holloway Elementary families gathered Thursday evening for a festive night of fun, creativity and community at the school’s annual Trunk or Treat, hosted by the Holloway Association of Parents (HAP).
The parking lot at 6611 Pilliod Road transformed into a lively Halloween village, complete with decorated trunks, themed costumes and sweet treats at every turn. Families showed off their creativity with car designs ranging from spooky to silly, while students arrived in everything from superheroes to classic storybook characters. There was a total of 26 trunks and Holloway Association of Parents wants to sincerely thank and give their gratitude to Westwinds Church community for continually supporting their events, as well as supplying pounds of candy.
Adding to the excitement, local food trucks lined the event, serving warm snacks and seasonal favorites as music and laughter filled the crisp fall air. The evening provided families a chance to connect, celebrate the season and enjoy one of Holloway’s most beloved traditions.
Principal Nelle Ratliff shared her gratitude for the dedicated parents and volunteers who made the event possible: “Trunk or Treat is such a special tradition here at Holloway,” Ratliff said. “It’s a perfect example of how our families come together to create lasting memories for our students. We’re so thankful for HAP and everyone who contributed to this year’s event.” The Holloway Association of Parents went above and beyond this year, creating festive games and surprises for attendees—including a hilarious donut-on-a-string challenge, where students competed to eat a dangling donut without using their hands.
Principal Ratliff, Assistant Principal Brad Conrad and School Counselor Julie Meyer joined in the fun by dressing up as donuts themselves, offering treats as the “Donut Trio” to welcome families.
Every trunk was filled with creativity, and long lines of families waited to see each decorated car and collect candy from the cheerful volunteers. The Springfield Township Fire Department also stopped by to join the celebration and greet families.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Holloway Association of Parents for organizing this community favorite, collecting candy donations, coordinating participants and ensuring another safe and joyfilled night for all.
