The holiday season is almost here, and Toledo is kicking it off in style. For the first time ever, the city will host the International Holiday Market at Levis Square Park on Friday and Saturday, November 21 and 22, from 4 to 10 p.m. both nights.
Shop handcrafted gifts and treats from local vendors representing Toledo’s diverse cultures. From Mexican to Native American, German to Filipino, Polish to Indian, and beyond, there’s something unique to discover around every corner.
The market will be alive with music, dance and cultural performances. Guests can enjoy El Corazon de Mexico Dance Troupe, Deutsche Volkstanz Gruppe, Echoes of Poland, Molly’s Irish Dancers, Poonam Dance and other performers showcasing traditions from around the world.
On November 20, veterans and first responders volunteering with the Inspired Lumber Project will supervise students from Toledo Public Schools, Washington Local Schools and Glass City Academy as they assemble all 15 vendor huts for the inaugural market. The hut building project is a collaboration that celebrates skill, service and holiday spirit.
Visitors also can enjoy hands-on experiences like tin icicle ornament making and a warming tent with hot beverages from around the globe, including Gluhwein, the traditional German mulled wine.
The holiday fun continues with Toledo’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting at Promenade Park on November 21, beginning at 5 p.m., with the lighting at 7 p.m. On Saturday, enjoy the International Market, then wander over to the annual Hensville Tree Lighting, which runs from 4 to 6 p.m., with the tree lighting at 5:45 p.m.
Whether shopping for unique gifts, enjoying performances or taking in the holiday lights, Toledo’s festive weekend offers a chance to celebrate community, culture and the season of joy.
