Springfield High School celebrated four outstanding senior athletes as they officially signed their letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level. The ceremony, held in the high school auditorium, recognized each student’s hard work, dedication and achievements both on and off the field.
Athletic Director Jason Dugan opened the event by thanking parents, coaches and staff for their continued support of Springfield’s student-athletes. “It takes a full community to nurture student success,” Dugan said, emphasizing the commitment it takes to reach this milestone.
Kyle Mortus University of Findlay Soccer
Kyle Mortus, son of Jason and Lisa Mortus, has been playing soccer since the age of three. He began his journey with Springfield’s recreation program before joining competitive teams like Pacesetter and GTFC. Over his high school career, Kyle earned four varsity letters, three league championships and one district title.
Among numerous honors, he was named an All-Ohio player for the 2025 season. Beyond the field, Kyle has volunteered at local food drives and with youth soccer programs. He looks forward to continuing his athletic career at the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.
Addy Rapp Ursuline College Softball
Addy Rapp, daughter of Keith and Elissa Rapp, has played softball for 13 years, beginning with Springfield’s Tball and travel programs. A four-year varsity letter winner, Addy has earned multiple allleague honors, three league titles and two district championships. She also played volleyball for three years at Springfield and took part in leadership programs such as Teen Pep, Be the Change, the Peace Project and the Chick-fil-A Leadership Academy.
Addy will continue her softball career at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio.
Natalie Slavin Ohio Northern University Softball Natalie Slavin, daughter of Dan and Wasana Slavin, began playing softball in first grade and has competed with numerous travel teams, including the Wizards, Irish and Finesse. A standout for the Lady Blue Devils, Natalie earned four varsity letters, three league titles and two district championships. She helped lead Springfield to a Final Four and state championship appearance earlier this year.
Natalie will play collegiate softball at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
Autumn Sowinski University of Akron Track and Field
Autumn Sowinski, daughter of Rita Sowinski and stepdad Chris Newman, began her running career in seventh grade at Springfield Middle School, competing in both cross country and track. Throughout high school, she earned varsity letters each season and was a state qualifier in multiple events. In addition to athletics, Autumn has been a member of the National Honor Society and Springfield’s Bowling Club. She will continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.
The ceremony concluded with applause and photos as families, coaches and teammates celebrated each athlete’s achievements and future opportunities. Congratulations to Kyle, Addy, Natalie and Autumn for representing Springfield with pride and excellence.
