Blood donors sought for year-end giving

The American Red Cross is teaming up with PACMAN to celebrate 45 years of the legendary game. More donors are needed now to help keep the blood supply on track through the holidays.

All who come to donate blood through December 7, will score an exclusive pair of Red Cross x PAC-MAN socks, while supplies last.

All who give during the same time frame also will receive a custom Red Cross x PAC-MAN GASHAPON

Additionally, successful donations will get free A1C testing, commonly used to screen for prediabetes and diabetes.

The following area blood drives are scheduled:

•November 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Student Union, 2801 West Bancroft, Toledo

•November 22, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 2255 Central Grove Avenue, Toledo

•December 1, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, 2213 Cherry Street, Toledo

•December 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at University of Toledo Medical Center, 3065 Arlington Avenue, Toledo

•December 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Toledo Hospital, 2142 North Cove Boulevard, Toledo Appointments also can be scheduled to donate blood at the Red Cross Toledo Blood Donation Center, 3510 Executive Parkway, Toledo.

Hours are Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood.

High school students and other donors age 18 years and younger also must meet certain height and weight requirements.
