Whitehouse holiday celebration on Dec. 6

On Saturday, December 6, downtown Whitehouse will feature a Christmas Village 5K, holiday crafts for kids, a visit from St. Nick, downtown holiday parade and the annual Whitehouse tree lighting, plus much more.

•Santa will be available for visits and photos at the Village Park Shelter House from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and then again after the parade from approximately 6:45 to 7:15 p.m.

•From 4 to 6 p.m., children can participate in crafts at Whitehouse businesses. They should grab a Craft Passport, and if they complete four or more crafts and return their passport to the Village Park Pavilion before the tree lighting (immediately following the parade down Providence Street at 6:15 p.m.), they will be entered into a drawing to win prizes, including a new child’s bike from Cycle Werks.

Passports, craft bags and maps will be available under the Village Park Pavilion. Businesses also will have a limited number of passports.

•Hot chocolate at Generals Ice Cream.

•Small vendor/information area under the pavilion.

•Run Toledo’s Christmas Village 5K is at 4:30 p.m., with Kid’s Reindeer Dash at 5:30 p.m..

•The parade will start at approximately 6:15 p.m., at the log cabin and will travel south on Providence Street, ending at Village Park.

•The Whitehouse Public Service Department has the honor of transporting Santa and the mayor, as they were victorious in the Holiday Cheer Toy Drive competition last year. But this year, Whitehouse departments have joined forces to take on the City of Waterville.

Attendees are invited to donate a new, unwrapped toy to help children in need and show community pride.

•Immediately following the parade will be the annual Whitehouse tree lighting and craft passport prize drawings.

Parking in the downtown area but will be very limited. Please note: St. Louis Avenue will be temporarily closed for the beginning of the Christmas Village 5K at 4:30 p.m., and the parade will cause the downtown portion of Providence Street to be closed from approximately 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.

•Along St. Louis Avenue, northern side, adjacent to the Wabash Cannonball Trail

•In the lots off of Toledo Avenue •In the parking areas next to Veterans Memorial Park, 6710 Providence Street

•Overflow parking will be available at Blue Creek Metropark near the Nona France Quarry.

Remember that the Christmas Village 5K and Reindeer Dash Kids Run will be taking place, so keep an eye out for runners.
