Nature’s Nursery adds third book to their Animal Rescue Tails series

Nature’s Nursery, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured, orphaned and sick wildlife, announces the release of its newest book, “One Colorless Cardinal.” This is the third book in the Animal Rescue Tails series, written by Nature’s Nursery Executive Director, Allison Aey, and illustrated by local cartoonist, Don Lee. The book not only raises funds for Nature’s Nursery, but also raises love for wildlife.

“One Colorless Cardinal” shares the uplifting and true story of one of the facility’s most unique patients, Carl the Cardinal. Carl was a rescue bird whose distinctive lack of color made him stand out among the other animals in the wild. Born all white, Carl felt like he didn’t fit in, but with the help of a friendly bluejay, he soon realizes that being different means being special and his uniqueness is to be celebrated.

“People are always amazed when they meet Carl in our education center,” said Aey. “They are intrigued by his pink color and red eyes and always want to know his story. I wrote this book to bring more awareness to the work that Nature’s Nursery does for wildlife, but even more so for readers to be reminded that being unique is what makes everything in nature so special.”

The book is available for purchase on Amazon and can be found linked from the Nature’s Nursery’s “Merchandise & Gifts” tab on the website at naturesnursery. org/. All proceeds from the book are used for supporting wildlife rescue and care through Nature’s Nursery.

Carl can be seen in person during the Nature’s Nursery Education Center visiting hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 1 to 6 p.m., at 7541 Dutch Road, Waterville.
