“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” – Preamble to the U.S. Constitution Each year, on September 17, we celebrate Constitution Day to commemorate the founding of our form of government. The Constitution contains the basic laws of the United States in its seven articles and 27 amendments. This is an important part of our history, and an important topic for students to learn.

On September 17, students at Crissey had the opportunity to learn more about the Constitution. Many students learned how the Constitution protects their freedoms and impacts all facets of their lives, and how we should not take for granted the civil rights and liberties we have in our country.

The teachers at Crissey used many different and creative ways to enable students to learn about one of our country’s most important historic documents. Some classes learned the Preamble, while others learned about the branches of government and U.S. citizenship. Some students and staff members were all decked out in red, white and blue for the occasion. It was a very patriotic day at Crissey Elementary.
