The Lucas County commissioners gave the go ahead to place three property tax levies on the ballot this fall.
At the July 27 meeting, the commissioners approved the 0.17-mill replacement levy for Imagination Station.
Because it is a replacement levy and not a renewal, the amount collected by the levy will increase from .17 to .1975 mills.
According to the Lucas County auditor’s office, the current cost to the owner of a $100,000 home is $4.73 and that will increase to $6.91.
The funds would be used to promote sciences and natural history and for operation and maintenance of the facility.
Also appearing on the fall ballot is a request by the Toledo Zoo for renewal of a 0.75-mill levy with a decrease of 0.10 mills to constitute a 0.65-mill levy. The funds would be used for maintenance and operation of the zoo.
For the owner of a $100,000 home the new levy will cost $19.91, down from the current $20.87.
Additionally, voters will be asked to support renewal of the 0.7-mill levy for operation and capital improvements to the 9-1-1 operating system and public safety communications system.
Because it is a renewal levy, it will not cost homeowners any additional money if passed.
