SLS receives audit with distinction recognition

Springfield Local Schools has earned the state auditor’s award with distinction for a clean audit in the past, but this year’s recognition is particularly noteworthy.

“This year was pretty special to me as I got COVID-19 when the audit occurred,” Treasurer Ryan Lockwood said at the board’s April 14 study session.

He lauded his staff, especially Jackie Yackee. “She was a big part of it, and I commend her.”

Lori Brodie of the Ohio auditor’s office presented the award noting, “This puts Springfield Schools in a very select group. It’s good for you and good for your community.”

To receive the award, eligible entities must have a clean audit with no findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, uniform guidance findings or questioned costs.

“I want to recognize the superintendent, school board and especially Ryan Lock wood, your treasurer,” Mrs. Brodie said. “They are committed to fiscal integrity.”
