‘Beauty and the Beast’ planned for on March 11-12

Ballet Theatre of Toledo’s artistic director and choreographer Nigel Burgoine brings author, Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve’s timeless classic story of “Beauty and the Beast” to life. This one act ballet is set to an original score by Professor David Jex and accompanied by six musicians. Belle, the heroine of the story, displays her love and dedication to her father by fulfilling his request for her to work for an aristocratic beast. As the ballet evolves, Belle realizes that despite the Beast’s appearance, he is a kind, loving individual. When Belle declares her love for him, the evil spell is broken, the Beast is transformed back to Prince Adam, and they marry and live happily ever after.

Foundation hosts speed euchre tournament

The Springfield Schools Foundation trustees hosted their second annual speed euchre tournament last month, raising nearly $15,000. Speed euchre is an innovative twist to the popular card game. Innovation and creativity are foundational to SSF, which exists to enrich the educational experiences for Springfield’s staff and students, said Megan Evans, foundation president. The tournament would not be possible without assistance from Cynthia Beekley, retired superintendent; Kari Bucher; Eliza Evans; Barrie Howell; Sherri Koback, alumni director; Marty Perlaky; Cindy Siedler; Kristina White, and Amanda Wilhelm.

– 2023 Literacy Night was a HUGE Success To say that the CandyLand themed literacy night at Holloway Elementary School was a huge success might be a bit of an understatement. Hundreds of families made their way through all the areas that celebrated the love of learning and reading including our book fair, the decorated hallways and all the activities that were held in the cafeteria.
