Springfield High School Musicians Selected for OMEA All-District Honors Music Festival The Ohio Music Education Association District 1 2023 Honors Music Festival was held on Sunday, January 22, at the Stranahan Theater. The festival is a celebration of the outstanding band, choir and orchestra student musicians within District 1, which is made up of Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Williams and Wood counties. Students participating in the high school honor ensembles were chosen through a blind audition process and were selected for participation in December. More than 300 students were chosen to perform and they represented more than 30 high schools across District 1.

Canine Care and Control to launch ‘Dogs On The Town’ program

Lucas County Canine Care and Control’s (LC4) Dogs on the Town (DOTT) program is being expanded to allow individuals to take dogs from the care center on day-trip adventures into the community. The DOTT program was started several years ago to allow approved LC4 volunteers to take dogs on outings that last a few hours or all day, and could include a hike in an area metropark, a nap at a participant’s home or shopping at a local pet store or dogfriendly business.

TARTA Board of Trustees approves changes to bus service

TARTA’s Board of Trustees has approved several service changes for the spring, including the extension of fixed-route service to Spring Meadows Place shopping center in Holland. Beginning Sunday, March 26, TARTA’s route 32 will travel to Spring Meadows, with other slight modifications to the route’s stops on Airport Highway.
