The Springfield Township Fire Department and trustees honored one of their own on Monday. At the January 22 meeting, the trustees issued a proclamation posthumously to the family of firefighter/paramedic Sterling William “Butch” Rahe. The long-time firefighter died on January 1.

Lucas County Engineer Mike Pniewski kick started 2024 with a number of requests that were greenlighted by the county commissioners. At the January 8 meeting, the commissioners approved the engineer’s annual township meeting schedule.

Citizen Advisory Group, a financial services firm in Perrysburg, donated more than 2,500 pairs of socks to benefit Hannah’s Socks, a non-profit organization focused on providing new socks to the less fortunate in northwest Ohio and neighboring communities.

The Girl Scout cookie fund-raiser campaign is underway. Through March 17, local Girl Scouts will be selling nine varieties of cookies across northwest Ohio. The annual event is the world’s largest entrepreneurial program for girls.

The Gathering of Quilters was founded in 1982. It promotes the art and craft of quilting, with membership open to any person interested in quilts, quilt making and sewing-related crafts.

In partnership with the Toledo Lucas County Public Library, Hospice of Northwest Ohio will offer four advance care planning information sessions for the community. Sessions will be held at library locations through April.
